Named after an area of Salcombe that was once a beach and now is home to Salcombe’s historic harbour, ‘Whitestrand’ is our small batch white rum produced in batches of 80-90 bottles. 

Beautifully smooth and fresh, ‘Whitestrand’ is an outstanding white rum. The crisp lime citrus on the nose is complemented by flavours of apricot, banana and long pepper with subtle hints of coconut. With a gently spiced finish, ‘Whitestrand’ has a fantastic spectrum of flavour.

Salcombe Rum 'Whitestrand'

‘Whitestrand’ is an outstanding rum inspired by the 19th century Salcombe Fruit Schooners, which were famous for carrying fresh fruits and spices back from exotic lands, the locally built 19th century Salcombe Fruiters often ventured to the West Indies to acquire a much sweeter and more potent payload; sugar, molasses and rum.

In the tropical Caribbean heat, puncheons or hogsheads of rum were carefully stowed on board these ships and surrounded by coconuts to protect the precious cargo during their perilous journey back across the Atlantic.

INGREDIENTS
Crafted with carefully selected botanicals and spices

‘Whitestrand’ has been lovingly crafted in very small batches of 80-90 bottles with gently fermented first-rate molasses, unrefined sugar and a blend of yeasts. It’s twice distilled for smoothness on traditional 60 litre hand beaten copper pots stills, we add the following ingredients in the second distillation:

LIME, COCONUT, long pepper, CINNAMON.

No sugar is added after the distillation process, allowing the superb spectrum of flavour to speak for itself.

ingredients
  • 50ml Salcombe Rum ‘Whitestrand’
  • 25ml Lime juice 
  • 25ml Sugar syrup
  • 8-10 Mint leaves
  • Soda water
method
  • Add the rum, lime juice, sugar syrup and mint leaves to a highball glass
  • Fill the glass half-way with ice and churn. 

  • Top with more ice and soda water.
  • Garnish with a sprig of mint.
