Born of the sea and taken from the wind, this special edition release is the product of ocean adventure. Developed in partnership with the Royal Ocean Racing Club, we’ve taken our classic London Dry gin ‘Start Point’ and distilled it to an ‘offshore strength’ to create the ultimate sundowner for sailors to enjoy after a day on the water.

Available in 70cl. 50% ABV.
Steeped in maritime history and inspired by cargoes of fresh citrus fruits and spices once carried by the fastest ships of their day, every sip of ‘Start Point – Offshore Strength’ pays homage to the famous 19th century Salcombe Fruiters and their voyages of discovery.
This higher strength version of ‘Start Point’, brings a much richer, fuller flavour to the distinct citrus notes of red grapefruit and heady juniper, synonymous with our multi-award winning gin.
‘Start Point’ – Offshore Strength is distilled using 13 of the finest hand sourced botanicals from around the world, many of which have been traced back to the global maritime trading routes and cargoes once carried by the Salcombe Fruiters. Each of the botanicals we use has a story to tell, none are mass produced, all are traceable to their source and all are picked at their best. We are uncompromisingly fussy about their quality.
MACEDONIAN JUNIPER BERRIES, lemon, lime, RED GRAPEFRUIT, English coriander seeds, liquorice, CARDAMOM, cubeb berries, angelica root
Macedonian juniper berries are selected for their high limonene content and the fresh citrus peels of red grapefruit, lemon and lime are hand peeled each day prior to distillation. Of utmost importance and often overlooked in gin distillation is the quality of the water used for blending. We know that water plays an important part in creating our phenomenally smooth collection of gins which is why we blend our gins with Dartmoor water; some of the softest and purest water in England, sourced from high up in the wilds of Dartmoor National Park.
“It’s a privilege for the Royal Ocean Racing Club to partner with an organisation that shares our passion for the ocean both as an environment for adventure, but also and the important conservation initiatives through their relationship with the Marine Conversation Society and share our passion for innovation with the development of “offshore strength”, a new sector in the highly competitive gin market. This is just the start of what will be a fruitful long-term relationship.”
The Royal Ocean Racing Club, founded in 1925 is a world leader in ocean racing. Established to encourage long-distance yacht racing and the design, building and navigation of sailing vessels in which speed and seaworthiness are combined. This still stands true today.
RORC’s founding race, the world-renowned Fastnet Race, starts in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, rounds the Fastnet Rock off the coast of Ireland and finishes in Cherbourg, France, a distance of approx. 700 nautical miles. For Corinthian sailors this is their Everest.
We donate 1% of every bottle of Salcombe Gin ‘Start Point’ sold to the Marine Conservation Society to help protect and regenerate precious ocean habitats.
Salcombe Distilling Company will donate 1% of revenue from UK sales of 50cl and 70cl bottles of Salcombe Gin ‘Start Point’ to ocean recovery projects run in conjunction with the Marine Conservation Society, a registered UK charity working for seas full of life.
